Minutes from the last meeting
The minutes of the meeting of 27th January 2009 were discussed. There were several actions in the minutes but the person named was not a member of the Management Committee. In future someone from the MC needs to be tasked with liaising with the person who may be able to carry forward the action required.
Town Character (Vincent Edberg)
The latest draft of the Town Design Statement (TDS) was published on the ‘wiki’ and will also be made available from the P2M website. It was the focus of the public consultation at the Library on 14th February. There was a good attendance at the consultation event. The final preliminary version forms the basis of the more formal public consultation in May. It is expected that the TDS will be adopted as a supplementary planning document in the Autumn. The draft the was presented at the Annual Meeting of the Town on 30th March. There is a need to obtain significant funding for the final document.
EHDC will make its comments before the final consultation. There is a possibility that the draft will go to the Development Policy Panel in July. There will then be a six week consultation period and it will be presented during the Bank Holiday Weekend.
When it is presented before the Community Forum (Petersfield, Liss and surrounding villages) it is hoped the meeting can be held in central Petersfield to make it more accessible to local people. Action Hilary
Retail & Business (Gareth Gammon)
Gareth had sent his apologies so there was little to report. The empty Woolworths store was a concern and it was decided to ask Economic Development at EHDC if the owner was known to them with a view to bringing it back into use. : Action Hilary
Local Transport – Tony Shaw
There had been a consultation regarding Community Transport in our rural area in East Meon. There were not many attending and a lack of young people there.
The recording of the Bus stops in the area had been completed but one of the bus companies had put up new signs that made them even more difficult to read. Perhaps the recordings already made could be sent to HCC with a further photograph showing the alteration.
There was dismay that the Liphook rail bus was to be withdrawn. At the present time there is no intention to remove the Waterlooville rail link.
Car parking charges had been altered to give free parking on Sundays in Castle Yard and Festival Hall car parks in Petersfield but this had been poorly advertised and they were not being well used. This meant there was still a lot of parking in residential streets on Sundays. Action Hilary
Natural Environment & Local Products – Nick Heaseman, Terena Plowright
This Group needs to find someone who is active within the sector. The subject is given a high priority by our original public consultation. It would be helpful to achieve an audit of the existing situation and to identify the people and bodies involved.
The project is ongoing and well documented. Matters arising from AGM
